Shen Wei
Lecturer Mechanical and Construction Engineering

Shen Wei is a lecturer in building services engineering at Northumbria University (Newcastle), UK. He is teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels regarding to Energy Efficient Buildings and Building Information Modelling. He received his BEng in building services engineering in 2006, from the Beijing University of Technology in China. Then he obtained an MSc degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the Southern Denmark University in Denmark. Since November 2008, he started his PhD study at Loughborough University, focusing on occupant adaptive behaviour in buildings, including monitoring, modelling and simulation. Before joining Northumbria University, he carried out two post-doc positions at Plymouth University and Loughborough University, respectively. He is currently on the editorial board of Journal of Intelligent Building International. Additionally, he is co-leading a research team in occupant behaviour and thermal comfort at the Beijing University of Technology. In the past 5 years, Dr Wei has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles, including 9 journal papers. His main research interests include occupant behaviour, thermal comfort, thermal storage (e.g. PCM) in buildings, as well as link between BIM and sustainable technologies.
